Who is it for?

Voice Coaching

Objective information beside your professional ear.

You hear breathiness, strain, instability. Cantaris turns those impressions into numbers — CPPS, HNR, jitter, AVQI, DSI — with published references next to them. GRBAS and CAPE-V live in the same record.

  • Published reference values beside every number — a result you can read at a glance.
  • GRBAS and CAPE-V captured in the same record as the acoustics.
  • Objective before-and-after to document progress for clients and colleagues.
Pedagogy

Show your student what their ear is hearing.

Live pitch feedback, the Vocal Ring number, the tessitura in relation to a sung piece — in a lesson they become a shared language between teacher and singer. Across a training period the overlays show exactly what changed.

  • Live pitch and loudness feedback the singer can actually see.
  • Range, tessitura and Vocal Ring mapped against the piece they're singing.
  • Overlaid takes that show how the voice opened up across a term.
Research

Built for the pipeline.

Scientific-level calibration with Praat under the hood. All acoustic data is saved automatically, with CSV and WAV batch export for anything downstream. Full per-user encryption, with optional shared workspaces on network drives.

  • Praat-grade, reproducible measurements saved automatically.
  • CSV and WAV batch export that drops straight into any pipeline.
  • Per-user encryption, with optional shared workspaces on a network drive.

01 — Voice Range Profile

Maximum Vocal Performance, drawn in pitch and loudness.

A complete voice field in twelve simple recordings, with live feedback that shows the singer, client or student exactly what their voice is doing the moment they're doing it.

Cantaris plots every voiced frame on an interactive piano diagram: pitch along the keyboard, loudness up the y-axis in calibrated dB.

Voice Range Profile LIVE
PHONETOGRAMLIVE FEEDBACK60–2000 Hz
02 — Speech Range Profile

How the voice behaves when it speaks.

Where the phonetogram uses sustained vowels and glides, the Speech Range Profile captures pitch and loudness in connected speech — the way the voice actually works while talking.

Four short conditions — soft, normal, loud and an optional shout — each return an average pitch, its musical note, and a loudness in calibrated dB. In a healthy voice the speech profile sits well inside the full range; when it crowds the edges, you can see it.

03 — Song Range Profile

The singing voice, on its own terms.

The Song Range Profile records and analyses a sung performance, so the singing voice can be assessed separately from speech — built for singers, teachers and vocal coaching.

The passage is plotted on the same pitch-and-loudness diagram, ready to overlay and compare. Across a training period the takes line up side by side, so an opening range is something you can point to.

Labs, Clinics & Departments
Licenses for teams
Quotation on request Volume pricing from three or more users, teaching-lab licenses for university programmes, and in-company training. Email us your team size and we send a formal quotation — by return, as a PDF you can hand to purchasing.
For institutions — universities, clinics and hospitals Quotations, purchase orders, USD invoicing, IT security review, and a 30-day evaluation.

We work with institutional purchasing. Everything your finance and IT departments are likely to ask for is set out below, so you can get started without a call.

Requesting a quotation

Email us at institutions@cantaris-software.com with your institution, the number of users or workstations, and the license period you have in mind. We reply by return with a formal quotation as a PDF, valid for thirty days and carrying our full company, VAT and bank details — a document you can hand straight to purchasing.

Quotations for institutions in the United States are issued in dollars, and the USD amount on the quotation is the amount you are charged. The figure your department approves is the figure on the invoice, with no exchange-rate difference appearing in between.

We accept purchase orders and invoice against your PO number on thirty-day terms. Payment can be made by bank transfer, or by departmental purchasing card where your institution allows it.

For your IT and security review

Cantaris runs entirely on the local machine. Recordings, case files and results are written to the device and stay there — there is no cloud and no server behind the software, nothing is transmitted to us, and we hold no customer recordings of any kind. For most IT reviews, that answers the question before it is asked.

Data is encrypted per user at rest, and teams that want to work from a shared library can point Cantaris at a workspace on your own network drive, under your own access control.

Cantaris does not diagnose. It records the voice and reports objective measures of the sound signal; the interpretation stays entirely with the professional. More on data protection →

A 30-day evaluation for institutions. The public trial runs for seven days, which is rarely long enough for a department to reach a decision. Institutions can request a thirty-day evaluation license instead — enough time to run a course, trial it in clinic, or complete an IT review before any money is committed. Mention it in your email and we will set it up.
We are a Netherlands company. Cantaris Software B.V. is registered in the Netherlands, and our company, Chamber of Commerce, VAT and bank details appear on every quotation and invoice. If your finance department needs further vendor or tax documentation to set us up as a supplier, write to us and we will provide it.
Contract documents

The paperwork your legal and purchasing departments will want to read before a requisition is raised. Any further vendor or tax documentation your finance department needs, we will provide on request.

Cantaris records the voice and computes objective acoustic, aerodynamic and perceptual measures — pitch and loudness across the voice, speech and song range, HNR, jitter, shimmer, CPPS, voice breaks, vocal ring, maximum phonation time, DSI, AVQI, and perceptual scales including GRBAS and CAPE-V.
Every measurement exports as a single PDF — the range profiles, each Voice Lab measure with its reference values, and your perceptual ratings, in one document you can file in the record or hand to a client. Download an example report (PDF) →
Speech-language pathologists and ENT / phoniatricians, singing teachers and vocal coaches, and voice scientists. Each gets the measures that matter to their work in one shared record.
No. Cantaris records and measures sound, it doesn't diagnose. It reports objectively on the sound signal; the interpretation stays entirely yours.
Every license includes every mode — the voice, speech and song range profiles, the Phonanium Voice Lab, and the Acoustic Workbench — plus all updates within the licensed period. A license covers two computers.
All recordings and case files are stored locally on your device and encrypted per user — nothing is sent to a server or shared without your knowledge. Voice scientists can additionally work from shared workspaces on a network drive, and export WAV or CSV for any downstream pipeline.

More about data protection in Cantaris →
Cantaris runs on Windows and macOS and works with any standard microphone you already own — you can be measuring within 5 minutes of installation. For pitch, jitter, shimmer, CPPS, HNR and AVQI, a good microphone you already have is enough.

Measures expressed in absolute loudness (dB SPL) — the voice and speech range profiles, and the DSI — depend on a calibrated signal chain. Our standard set is an AKG C544 L headset microphone with a Focusrite iTrack Solo audio interface: a fixed mouth-to-microphone distance and a stable input stage, so your loudness values stay comparable between sessions, between clients, and between colleagues.

Meet Cantaris

A voice tool built by people who measure voices.

"I created Cantaris with one clear purpose: to objectify and measure my work as a voice specialist, and visualize for my clients what we hear and feel. From the moment I started using it, I noticed some real benefits. Explaining how a client's voice works became much easier."
